Neds (Non Educated Delinquents) is a thriller/horror movie based on some Glasgow teenagers who have a reputation of violent, abusive and all round terrible behaviour. Its a well known fact that most teenagers from Glasgow behave like normal, but the small minority of Neds are what this movie is based on.
Being someone from Scotland, I can say that the movie is chillingly close to what I and friends have experienced on trips to Glasgow. The movie is set in a Glasgow scheme that is rife with violence, fighting and a knife culture while following the teenage years of a boy who turns from a very pleasant and smart young boy to a young man that ends the movie doing horrendous crimes against strangers and those closest to him.
The movie covers a lot of issues that have taken the news headlines for years now, and it shows them in all there gory detail. At first I thought to myself that it was nothing I hadn’t seen before, that was until I the movie started showing what the main character was all about. He went from a bot that could have done anything with his life, to a young man that done anything he wanted no matter the consequences!
The movie is very well directed, with great attention shown on the scenes that matter although the acting of some of the cast is a little poor but overall it still seemed to work. Overall the story is in depth enough to keep you wanting more and more with such a good story comes a very intriguing protagonist which at times you will love and at others you will hate, but as the movie continues that hatred will be replaced with sympathy as you will see that he has tried to keep himself away from trouble, but trouble found him at every corner.
I maybe a little biased as it covered a subject a little close to home for me, but I rate this movie at 4.5/5
